When we started to use Open Zoom we wanted the easiest possible integration into our backend. All users should be able to upload and change Deep Zoom images like a charm. Many projects use our File Pool for uploading and managing all types of files. So the File Pool has to create slices and descriptor files for uploaded images, without bothering the user.
There was only a Python script available on the Open Zoom Code Page, so we wrote a Ruby libraray for an easier integration into our Rails applications.
We were happy to benefit from the Open Zoom project, so we published our work for the community in return.
